Dissapointed with rust appearing so soon

Submitted by notcool4me - I installed this A/C unit at the beginning of May 2016. We had quite a hot and humid summer in my area this year so the unit was operated quite frequently. However I noticed that after less than 3 months of use a lot of rust is already present inside the unit on the metal divider metal plate between the front and back of the unit where the condenser coil is. There is also rust on the bottom of the unit in the same area and even in parts of the condenser coil. The unit is installed properly with at least 1/4 inch of pitch towards the back of the unit so the condensate water should eventually evaporate as the unit is in use. Im disappointed with the quality of finish work of this unit and cannot recommend it as such. I guess Frigidaire spells out that no rust is covered in the warranty as probably this is a known issue and has not been corrected in the production of these A/C units.

The only thing missing are App enabled controls.

Submitted by Bea67 - I had purchased and returned a portable air conditioner that was good for a small single room but because I live in an apartment with a big open area and then a dining room on the side as an L shape the area measured about 582 sq ft and the portable ac wasnt cooling it. I had to do a lot of research because the sleeve in the wall under the window was not big enough to fit a big unit with high BTUs I did not want to have to return the ac also. I found the Frigidaire - FFTA1422R2 and wow it cools the big area in the apartment and it doesnt take long to do it. I was impressed I thought that a 14000 BTU ac wouldnt be able to cool off the place. It fits perfect in the window sleeve. I have a big Cyclone by Lasko floor fan which I place at the end of the dining area facing my sons room since its in the back and in his room there is a tall Dyson right by his door and all the cool air from the air conditioner flows into his room. He loves it specially with the heat wave we are having. We all love the Frigidaire air conditioner it does a great job

Temperature does not drop below 80 degrees f

Submitted by HW10010 - Dissappointed with performance. I bought the 14000 BTU model to replace older Frigidaire model for a 500 sq ft studio. The new model performs even worse than the older unit. The temperature nevers drops below 80 degrees even though the units thermostat is set to 60 degrees.

Over Rated Cooling Power

Submitted by Rdhall - I am finishing up a cabin in the Ozark mountains. I just had blow in foam insulation supposedly the best and installed the a/c just in time. The heat arrived almost on the same day I turned it on. I had high hopes for this a/c. My cabin is only 425sf so I had hoped that with the blown in foam it would really cool the place easily and not take too much electricity. Well so much for hopes. The a/c runs really well but it has to run constantly on high just to keep me a bit cool. I am not looking forward to the power bill. Like I said it runs really good but it is really over-rated in how much and how well it cools a space. I dont have the money to buy another one so I have to live with it. Sigh. Disappointed.

Submitted by CIJ 23 - We purchased this unit back in July 2015 and were very pleased with its performance. Just love the Remote Control and programing ability. The Digital Display on the unit is easy to see and the Unit is very quite. We also like the Auto Speed Fan feature that adjusts the Fan Speed to maintain the temperature that you set it for. This Unit also seems to develop less condensate than our old Feeders 16000 BTU unit did and it cools much better with less BTUs.
