Worst Filter Ever

First of all, this is a proprietary filter, which means, you can only use the GE brand, therefore , cheaper generic filters aren't an option. My issues with this filter are as follows: 1. The XWFE filter doesn't last long. I got approximately 2 months average service life. Although the filter is rated for 180 gallons of service life, my filter status indicator was still showing 62%, when this filter was letting out a trickle of water. 2. Proprietary filter. This filter has a RFID chip installed to communicate with the refrigerator to tell it it's a geniune GE filter, or it won't work. 3. I'm sure I'm not the only one, who is complaining about this filter.

THIS FILTER TAKES ALL THE NASTINESS OUT OF OUR WATER. THEY ADD SO MUCH CLORINE THAT IT SMELLS AND TASTE LIKE STRAIGHT CHEMICALS INSTEAD OF WATER. SINCE WE ARE ALLERGIC TO CLORINE THIS FILTERS MAKES OUR WATER SAFE TO DRINK.

Water filter

We purchased our GE refrigerator in May, 2022 and the water filter has already slow in dispensing water. It's only been 1.5 months and the water filter status shows "69%". Our old refrigerator which was also GE had better filtering capacity. The water does taste good.

We bought what we thought was a genuine GE filter online only to find a leak when we opened the door a few minutes later. It even came in what looked to be an authentic box. Needless to say there was no serial number on the filter like the genuine ones have. We then bought direct from GE and had no issues with the one currently in our refrigerator. Water quality I noticed was better than the other filter as well. We will be buying direct from now on.

I love my gss25lslrcss refrigerator and the filter does a good job and is easy to replace. My problem is that I purchased one through Amazon and it doesn't work. I put the old one back in and it works fine. I ordered another from Amazon and it also works fine. However, Amzon won't replace the bad one. Does it come with a warrantee from GE?

MY GE Cafe French door has a XWF filter, after going on line and buying the WXFE ( which it clearly says replaces the XWF)...it does NOT fit!...I have had numerous appliance people try to get it in and it doesn't work! $50 bucks and a waste of money....the site does not show just a XWF, so I'm out of luck with just having to keep an expired filter....Wish there was 0 start!!

We bought a new refrigerator in September 2021 that came with a water filter. The water from the original filter tasted fine. I bought new XWFE filters directly from GE and the water now has an awful metallic taste. It's unusable. I bought a pack of three filters. We completely flushed the first filter and have been using it for about a month but the water just tastes awful. I put a new filter in yesterday and flushed it well and the water still tastes awful. I work at home and drink water all day long so this is super frustrating. I wish there was another filter that I could try but I can't find an off-brand version that will work with this refrigerator. Honestly, it's undrinkable water using this filter. My tap water tastes better.
