Why is there air vents in the plastic housing That allows a majority of the interior air to be sucked outside? I mean the whole reason I Purchased was to be more efficient!?

I have been waiting two years for this one dollar piece of plastic. This is why GE will be gone as a company. Why sell me a product and leave the extra hose that is absolutely necessary. After solving a puzzle and discovering that I need to pay 80$ for a plastic hose, u tell me that it's not in stock because GE can't secure this high tech 2$ plastic hose. Well, two years into this, I have successfully ordered and I have waited already two weeks. My order has no status because GE can't make a functional website. I have a status number but I just have to wait and pray someone in GE will go to the backroom and send me my hose. Until that time, I will continue to use a fan.

Happened to check back in on this dual hose kit at random and noticed it was back in stock.
Ordered it and delivered just three days afterwards.
Night and day difference compared to the single hose setup. Cools the bedroom fast and doesn't have to run for nearly as long.
Not incentivized. Just a regular joe that happened to snag one.

Before I had this conversion kit my ac worked fine but now it works a lot better! first I was a bit eceptive, I did not know how much it would improve the performance of my GE portable AC… It was very easy to convert my GE Portable AC from a single hose to a dual hose with my Conversion Kit! It prevents a lot of the waste heat from leakin g back into the room from the exhaust hose. I'm very satisfied that my AC is better now, it's more cooler than before!
Definitely I recommend this conversion kit for best results in your GR portable AC

It's impossible to obtain this accessory, so if you haven't bought a matching AC unit, do yourself a favor and go with something else. I'll be leaving my real review on every other site I can find the matching AC unit.

This portable AC conversion kit really helps. Using without it in a smaller room works fine, but as you go into another room that is bigger it makes harder to keep cool and it takes longer to do it. With this kit it cools faster and stays cooler. The install was easy. It helps to keep the heat out while keeping the cool in. And when you are using this that is exactly the way you want it to be.

This dual hose upgrade really helps to cool down my fitness room faster. It prevents a lot of the "waste heat" from leaking back into the room from the exhaust hose. I still get the same ~25F split in air cooling, but the exhaust hose is much cooler than before (down ~20F from 103F to 81F). I've included a few pictures from my IR camera so that you can see the difference directly.

The room cooled down surprisingly quickly after installation. The exhaust hose insulation sleeve was easy to slide on and it worked efficiently and kept the heat out. The whole installation process was simple and straightforward.

When I received my portable GE a/c unit, I noticed that it did cool off my living room area a bit, but it was still warmer then I would have liked. After receiving and installing this dual hose conversion kit, there was an immediate noticeable difference in the temperature. My living room got cooler a lot faster. I took a star off, because honestly, it should have just came with the a/c unit. There is absolutely no reason why this should be sold separately because it really makes a difference in the efficiency of the unit.

After viewing some videos about single vs dual hose portable air conditioners, I decided to give it a shot. The unit runs more efficiently with two hoses by allowing more air flow which also helps to cool the internals. I'm happy with the results and I think you will too.

This kit turns a already great portable AC unit into a even better AC unit. The temperature change of the output by adding the second hose is instant and noticeable. The kit comes with everything needed including a insulation sleeve to keep more heat out. My AC runs less while holding the room temperature since I installed the kit.

We have loved using the GE air conditioner especially this hot summer, and we have found that it cools well and fast. Using this kit has helped it to cool down our front room even faster than without it. The included window bracket is just as easy to hook up as the supplies that came with the air conditioner. Without the kit the exhaust hose would put out a lot of heat, and now the room is noticeably cooler. We were happy before and even happier now with the performance of the GE air conditioner.

I really like that these hoses are able to be added to my AC. It gives me the option to have the hoses attaced to my outside windows or use the AC as a portable one. They attach very easy and stay in place. The fit very secure to the AC. I really recommend these hoses.

I was lucky enough to be able to get the GE portable dual AC hose conversion kit. Although I thought the GE portable unit was working okay – after installing the kit I can see how much better it could be. The kit was very easy to install and seems much more efficient now. We use it in my sons upstairs room where it is exposed to the Texas heat and sun all day and get's 10-15 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. The portable unit was doing well but the addition of the dual hose kit made it even cooler and the main unit doesn't seem to have to work as hard as it was.

Advertising an option with no intent of supporting it for 6 months is flat out lying to customers. Don't think I'll ever buy another GE product after I finally get this conversion kit

This duel hose kit for my GE portable Air conditioner is amazing. First my likes, I love that it keeps warmer air out and cooler air in. It made my room colder faster than the standard.hose.for sure. Second, it was very easy to install, basically same concept as installing original hose. Third, really helps these Texas summers when my central unit struggles to keep up.
My only negative is that I feel it should already be included when you purchase your portable AC. This just makes it run better and cooler so why not include it. It is not really an upgrade as it is a better design feature. An extra $80 plus for this is pricy.
It does work well, so I guess it is worth it however.

For a product *not even on the market*. Thi review is because this 1 star is literally the lowest i can go to quantify the disappointment in this product since its doesnt exist.
Been waiting to buy one of these so the portable AC unit isnt entirely 100% worthless in the single hose configuration. Any air that single hose pushes out of your house creates a negative pressure in your home. Guess where that air comes from to equalize pressure in your house? Literally outside, through any opening ever. It will blow cold air for you, but heat will come right back in just as fast, if not faster, since the single hose emits heat on its way to the window. So now you have hot air coming in thru walls and windows, AND heat coming off the hose. Sounds efficient. This RAP-02 kit is literally the only thing that makes a portable AC unit actually work. My portabe AC unit has been sitting there for months, and have since just replaced it with other normal window units elsewhere.

It was pretty easy to convert my GE Portable AC from a single hose to a dual hose with my GE-RAP02 Conversion Kit! The only problem I had was trying to slide the insulation sleeve over the intake hose. With the elastic ends this made it a little difficult but I managed to get it done. I am really happy that my AC is able to circulate even better now, giving me cooler air faster than before! I live in AZ so this is definitely a plus! I truly recommend this product!

This made a noticeable difference in the efficiency of the unit running. It seems to not need to run nearly as long and keep the room just as cool (definitely a plus on saving energy and money). It took a little bit of work to get it attached and setup in the window, but was manageable. Seems to be sturdy construction and should last long enough.

The kit directs the air better for cooling the discharge air of the air conditioner. Better cooling of the unit makes for better cooling of the air I get in my room. The kit has two new panels for duct hook up, and the window duct bracket is now for two ducts instead of one. Love the insulation that goes over the hot air duct leaving my unit, as this keeps the heat out of my living space. It used to get pretty warm coming out of my unit, and now I can barely feel it when I touch the duct. The upgrade kit is simple in installation and in understanding of the instructions. Very good idea here, and I like the way my unit is performing now. More efficient means less cost to run unit and better/cooler supply air to my room. Making the discharge air better routed, means my compressor will run cooler and last longer.

For those that need the the conversion now...While the conversion kit would be more aesthetic, this isn't a complicated project. Just add another opening to your existing window setup. Buy the hose and fittings from a Lowe's type of store. Search YouTube to see the installation of the official kit. This will help you retrofit an intake hose to your AC unit. Remember to insulate your exhaust hose. Make sure you retrofit it so that you can still remove panels to clean the filters in the future (2 filters as shown in user manual). In summary: You may void the warranty, depending on your method. If you buy the official kit, you'll pay 2x to 4x the cost of needed materials. The official kit requires you to replace plastic panels that will be trashed... wasteful.

We got this to add to out portable ac. Hooking the double airflow up was easy. The directions were easy to put together. We could tell within minutes that the air was cooler and the room cooled down quicker. I would definately recommend this especially in warmer climates like Florida where the air is humid. This is a nice addition to our portable ac.

GE has utterly failed to bring this product to market. I have been watching this listing since MARCH. I have contacted GE support. Time and time again to see support agent after support agent flounder and tell us it is still coming soon, thanks for your patience, etc.
This RAP02 kit was the primary deciding factor in me picking a GE portable air conditioner. I did not want a single-hose unit. I am not satisfied with its efficiency or performance. I bought my unit on the information that GE specifically provided a dual-hose conversion kit. But they've failed to deliver.
It's midsummer now. I'm tired of waiting -- you've lost me as a customer.

Just like all the other reviewers here: 1) the unit (7500 BTU Model #APWD07JASG) is extremely inefficient without the intake hose kit. The room is about 200 sq ft and the unit barely brings the temperature down. The exhaust hose radiates so much heat it's like a space heater, and I can feel hot air rushing in any available crack. 2) one of the main reasons I bought the unit was because of the apparent availability of a dual hose option. 3) The dual hose option is completely unavailable.

We purchased this unit over a month ago. It's not even hot yet and it cant keep up with keeping the front of our house cool. With out the dual hose kit it just sucks in hot air in from out side through any crack or vent. The house just keeps getting progressively warmer throughout the day. Lots of money spent for a unit that dosnt work all that well without this dual hose kit that is unavailable for the foreseeable future. I think we will have to return this one and get one that works. Dont buy this unit untel if ever this kit is available.
