The size of this microwave is perfect! It doesn't take up all your countertop space or it can be built in with your cabinets. However, it is a bit pricy. It is more expensive than the larger microwaves

These good reviews swayed my thinking-very regrettable. This microwave is only good for heating your beverage Or very small jobs, that's it. It is great looking but doesn't function well. I put in a bagged popcorn today and all it did was burn the bag. The heating is twice as long as most microwaves which I assume is due to the wattage. Also, it doesn't fit a standard square plate, so only a standard circular plate will work (or smaller). Not happy, what I wouldn't do to have the chance to exchange/upgrade to one of the other larger/higher wattage microwaves. I bought for ease of space and it had a trim piece to install in the wall (remodel appliances). I bought the matching oven too, no complaints on that one. I will likely be replacing this sooner than later. We call it our kitchen decoration.

I wish the buttons had a backlight. The print on the buttons is so small, it makes it hard to see them with black background. Also, the popcorn feature does not work well. It comes up ERR as in "error" after a short time, and the popcorn is only half-popped. It's a pricey microwave, and I expected better from GE.

I have had 3 of these microwaves in 17 years. They keep dying, but it has been the only one I can find that fits in my built in cabinet space so I have been replacing it with the same one. Just got a 4th and realized the size has been changed. It is 1/8" too wide now that it's 24"W. Since I can't find any microwave to fit in the space, I will return this 4th one and purchase another brand that might last longer and just put it on the counter. Also, the interior paint has a bad habit of peeling on the ceiling of microwave, risking falling in your food. I've had to keep a plastic cover over food to protect it.

Bought this as a replacement for my 20+ year old microwave. My older microwave was a 1000 watt unit and I was concerned that an 800 watt unit would fall short but I am not dissatisfied. There are some items that take 30 seconds to a minute or two longer which didn't bother me too much. I only use it to reheat items anyway and I was more concerned about size and looks on my microwave rack or counter top.

It is the perfect size for us. We also purchased separately the outer cover and it all looks terrific. My contractor said it was a little difficult to install but worth it. It makes the perfect finishing touch.

I bought this because it is the only model microwave oven that fits in the space built into my kitchen cabinets (the depth of the opening is the issue). It is the second PEM31 I needed buy to replace a failed GE JEM31 series (now discontinued) that I liked a lot (5 stars). The PEM31 has the same exterior dimensions as the JEM31, but has fewer features, a smaller oven cavity, and lower quality. My first PEM31 failed after only a few years of moderate use. In spite of being a manufacturing cost reduced version of the JEM31, it is significantly higher in price. If I had another option that would fit in the available space, I would have bought it. Sadly, that is not an option.

This is the perfect color instead of going with stainless like most people nowadays. It's the perfect microwave for a small space or for a media room as I bought it for. So far it works very well. I love all of my GE appliances.

First Spacemaker microwave in 1983 - lasted till 10/2015. Loved it, so replace it w/ Spacemaker II - lasted till 8/2018. Good customer service, but ultimately, the advice was to replace it rather than the probably more expensive option of repair - if I coulf find someone to repair it. This new Spacemaker II is beautiful, easier to push control buttons than the 2015 model, quiet, fast, wonderful. But will it last? Replacing in place of repairing is an environmental negative. I'm hoping something will change USA manufacturers' attitude to quality, longevity, & their ultimate effect on trade imbalances.
