Dreaded EC Code after just under 2 years old

As others have shared, at just under 2 years old this unit is displaying the EC code. If you unplug it and plug it back in the code returns. The quality of Frigidaire has certainly gone downhill over the years and it's a shame we're loading up the landfills with all of these poorly designed dehumidifiers. I'll definitely be trying a different brand moving forward.

I haven't had this dehumiidifier very long (less than 3 weeks), but so far it's working fine. I hesitate to provide a review for something that I have barely used, so it would be more relistic to do a reiew after I've had it for a while.

This dehumidifer was great - until it wasn't. It was relatively quiet, kept my large basement at a reasonable humidity level, and emptied into my sump hole. But after 13 months, it developed a frozen block of ice on the back, then an error code, and then it wouldn't turn on at all. The warranty of 12 months had expired, but Frigidaire had sent me an advertisement for a 5-year extended warranty. I purchased this extended coverage, but 2 months later (when I was about to call about my broken machine), they sent me a message telling me they had just refunded my warranty purchase as they don't repair dehumidifiers (even though they were the ones who encouraged me to buy this protection). I submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. Electrolux's (the parent company) response was to give me a 28% "Friends and Family Discount" on a new machine. It didn't seem worth it to pay this much money for a machine that died just after one year (and I didn't even use it in the winter months when my heating system dries out the house). I declined their offer and will buy a new machine from a different company. I should add that we also have an Electrolux washer and dryer. The repairman who once came out was great, but I won't be buying anymore appliances from a company that is so short-sighted in dealing with "valued" customers.

I just bought a new one of this same model March 2024 - first one purchased end of 2018 and worked great until just recently when it would run but ice would build up. Of course price in 2018 was $199 and price just paid was $279. I guess lasting 5 years is good. I didn™™t bother calling customer service because I assumed any warranty was expired.

The unit is less than 2 months upon arrival. It worked perfectly at first. Now it seems to not be pulling the moisture out of the air/ only slightly .Tried to call but no one answered. Was hung up on. HELP please.

The Frigidaire dehumidifier I bought is exactly what I needed. It was simple to operate and the 50 pint capacity allows me to run the unit continuously during the wet months. The handle on the bucket makes it easy to carry and to empty. I am totally satisfied with this product and would highly recommend it.

Dehumidifier is working well. This is the second Frigidaire that I have purchased. The first one is 4 years old and still going strong. Experience with this first dehumidifier is the reason I bought another Frigidaire.

I have purchased 2 dehumidifiers and each one lasted only 8-10 months. I use them during the Spring, Summer, and Fall months. In the winter I unplug the unit. When I start using the unit in the spring it will not start the compressor, only the fan runs. No error codes. I™™m going to have to purchase a new one and I don™™t think it will be a Frigidaire. THEY DO NOT LAST.

I have been living with this model dehumidifier for some years in the Pacific Northwest and this little monster makes my home tolerable. The dampness and the mold are gone. Where I rent there is black mold and this model gets the moisture off the window sills even. It also helps with hang laundry to dry it in a day or two. That is a remarkable feat. That said I could not live with out it nor would we choose to. We can breathe easier and trust it to do what must be done in this environment. It is fair to say this is the best holistic and practical investment we've made over the past challenging years along with our air purifier, that despite one going bad within 2 years and another having the plug prong come off and requiring a repair - it's a very strong necessary appliance. I tried the ones from Costco and other stores and they didn't get the moisture. This we empty gallons twice a day. It is easy to clean and stays clean. The filter doesn't get dirty and it's just a great good. I highly recommend it.

It works well for almost 3 years then quits. This is my experience with three of these as well as other brands. Apparently corporate engineers are happy to fill landfills rather than design a lasting portable dehumidifier.

Just replaced my old unit which only lasted 2 years. Since the heat comes on so much do to the weather, unit doesn't come on a lot. However, when it does it is pretty quiet. Love the control panel on top. It is a nice looking unit. I am hopeful it will work as good as the old unit, but last longer.

I purchased the Frigidaire for use in my basement a month ago. A big factor in choosing Frigidaire was its 50-pint capacity combined with a large tank for holding water. Many of the 50-pint options have ridiculously small water tanks and I do not have the option to run it into a drain. So it's manual emptying for me. This dehumidifier does well at keeping the humidity in check and with the bigger water tank, I can keep ahead of emptying it.

it is difficult to write a review as I just installed it 5 days ago. It was easy to set up as continuous drain, instructions are easy. It has not needed to run (automatic turn on) since there is very little humidity at this time.
